Wrong decision

Just found out about a suicide by my distant cousine. Good guy with whom I didn't interact much but met him during my last trip back home.

Whatever the reason, suicide can never be a solution. He left 2 young kids, a wife and a mother. Life will carry on as usual but it will be hard for everyone. Dont think life was easier earlier else he wouldn't have taken such a drastic effort. But now it will be much more harder for people he left behind.

Luck is probably the most important factor in one's life..it kicks in right from the day your are born, family in which you are born till the day of death.
I have seen hard working people struggling to earn a good living and have seen a absolute slackers getting rewarded unfairly.

Its always about being at the right place at right time. But doing nothing and waiting for luck to kick in is the worst thing.

Luck is 99% factor to be successful and remaining 1% is hard work..but and its a big but.. 1% needs to be put in 1st before 99% can be added.

Just listening to I am song by Bon Jovi. Nice song. I heard this song  repeatedly during my 1st ever run of 3.5 miles - from home to Woolwich ferry. That run was very important for 2 reasons. The day I had decided to buy my house, I always wanted to run that Riverside strech. 2nd and most important, I never ran 3.5miles without stopping but wanted to run it to prove myself that I can do it.

It was my own little test and I passed with frying colors.

1st day same show

Joined yesterday. Nice team though half of them are on vacation. Waiting for things to unfold.
My 4th bank now and all have been same.. same issues with sorting system access, same issues with spreadsheets, same old p&l.
Its good to get the money from doing it but how long?

Need to edit the destiny again.

One month gone

Alright. 24 March to 24th April. 31 days. Longest I have been without work. Strange yet good learning experience. Tomorrow I will start my new role.
Last job was good for work but best for meeting excellent people. Understanding different people is a life long journey, as my mother keeps telling me, which will never end. I dont want it to end either. Afterall biggest wealth in this world after good health and a great family is the ability to deal with different people and making them help you.
Money/ fame/ power are all by products of dealing with people. You get money when you get  people to do better work for you. You get fame when you get people to like you and you get power when you get people to respect you.

What i learnt last month...dont change with change in circumstances but adapt to it. Every challenge is an opportunity to get better.

Hello Again

Almost 4 years since my last post.  Have gone through  a lot, personally and professionally. All have been good because if a change doesnt  kill you, it makes you strong.
Biggest learning was about people and how unpredictable they can be. Work has been good but I believe I am heading on a  wrong path. Need to update my software to deal with people and processes "Professionally".

Being in London and working in an  investment bank does have its  charm and I enjoy it. I would confess that work hasnt been that hectic as I  see  my  friends mentioning about or is it me who is not bragging about it?
I have lost count of how many 15 times I  have been told by  different  managers that perception matters and I think I need to figure it out how to maintain it.

Let me think.....
